Evolution of a Book Love Library

Evolution of a Book Love Library

This summer we were lucky enough to be one of the 10 Book Love Foundation classroom library winners. Our journey is quickly gaining momentem after their contribution of 500 books!

Rewind to Last year...
Classroom Library 2013: Began building library after reading Book Love and being granted PTO donation.

We read…
Everywhere...
Held Events…

Loved sharing…

Created book spine poetry…

Met with Authors to help our reading and writing...

And we were proud of our drastic change in reading habits by the end of the year…

Then came the momentous phone call from Penny Kittle and our GENEROUS grant from the Book Love Foundation!

With help from Jessica at Booksource, the boxes books started to pile in!

LOTS of organizing to do …

But we were ready to go by the First Day of School!

First Day Want-to-Read Roundabout: The students each touched at least 70 books on the first day of school today as they began their Want-to-Read Lists.  Each group received a stack of 10 books to look over.  As the timer went off every 4 minutes, the students rotated to the next table of books. One of their rotations was a walk through the library. It was exciting to hear their discussions as they perused books. Many shared connections of books they have read with their table.

Lots more to come this year!
